Ibn `Abbas (RA): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The one who takes back his gift is like a dog swallowing its own vomit, and we (believers) should not act according to this bad example.”
(Bukhari Vol. 9, Book 86, Hadith 105)
When giving gifts is a sunnah, taking them back is reviled. Give with your heart and know that what you will get back is from Allah.
